Meet Chef Jon Gibson of The Beachcomber Café at Upcoming Taste of Newport “Chef’s Cooking Pavilion”
Chef Jon Gibson of The Beachcomber Café will be delighting us again on Sunday, September 19th at 1:30 pm with his Co-Coa Crusted Pork Belly Braised in Guinness.
We are pleased to welcome back, Chef Jon Gibson, of The Beachcomber Café in Newport Beach. Chef Gibson’s humble beginnings started by “flippin’ burgers” at the local Hardee’s restaurant and then filling every role of the restaurant industry from head bartender, food and beverage director, and even restaurant general manager. A trip to Sicily, led to self discovery of his culinary passion and paved the way for achieving honors at Le Cordon Bleu. He has since, worked along side the likes of Cat Cora, Guy Fieri, and Michelin Chef Edouard Loubet.
Chef Jon’s southern culture, extensive travel across the U.S. and Europe, classic French culinary training and access to the best local California ingredients have added a new dimension and twist on comfort food and Californian cuisine. His “coastal comfort cuisine” style menus change every six months to reflect the use of fresh seasonal ingredients. When Chef Jon is not at work or playing “mad scientist Chef” at home, you can usually find him, riding his motorcycle, knee deep in the surf fishing, or roaming around local farmers markets.
The Beachcomber at Crystal Cove opened in August of 2006 and is located in the heart of the Crystal Cove State Park Historic District. The restaurant is surrounded by historic cottages that are available for overnight rental through the State Park system and offers a variety of outdoor activites such as tidepool explorations, swimming, sunbathing and beach activities to accompany your perfect day at The Beachcomber Cafe!

The expo features the hottest Newport Beach celebrity chefs as they share their culinary flair for a live audience to taste and enjoy throughout the three day event. This complimentary culinary expo is a unique opportunity to personally meet the hottest Newport Beach celebrity chefs as they engage with local foodies and cook up some of their most sought after dishes and secret recipes.
