Balboa Island Fall Concert

The coveted Newport Beach neighborhood of Balboa Island is planning a Fall Concert to show off what their local businesses have to offer. Enjoy an evening of fun with a performance by The Surfaris and some old fashioned Balboa Island community spirit. The street will be closed down for residents and visitors to enjoy the event. Halloween dress is encouraged. The fun starts at 5pm. Make dinner reservations early at one of Balboa Islands many restaurants. RSVP and help spread the word on Facebook.



Many of the Balboa store fronts and businesses will have special offerings, here are just a few:

  • Amelia’s Restaurant will have “Grab-and Go” dishes to buy.

  • Barney’s Barkery will have $10 Pumpkin Collars.

  • 5 Seas will have 20% off Ella Moss and Splendid clothing.

  • Classic Kids Photography will have Halloween Snapshots in their studio.

  • HOM Real Estate will have appetizers and drinks.

Oktoberfest Hits Newport Beach

Mid-October and the cheers of happy patrons celebrating Oktoberfest are in the air. We decided to share a few places where the locals are getting in their OY-OY-OY!

THE BUNGALOW – Every Wednesday Night on the Patio starting at 5 p.m. features a special wine tasting bar, Beer on Tap for $4 and a complete German menu including Bratwurst with sauerkraut, Pork Schnitzel, German Potato Salad and more … get your celebration on, all for under $15.

THE ALLEY – The last Monday of every month, The Alley has a wine mixer with a guest chef, artist and musician. This month, they will have an Oktoberfest themed mixer complete with a German small bites by local the popular OC food blogger Cheri Liefeld and a german beer tasting.  See more info on their site. RECIPE: Only 99-calories, the Stoli Bombshell is a luxurious combination of Stoli Vanil Vodka, fresh raspberries, raspberry preserves and freshly squeezed lime juice, served straight up in a martini glass. (image below)

Ingredients

1.25 oz. Stoli Vanil Vodka; 1 oz. Fresh Lime Juice; .5 oz. Sugar-Free Syrup; .5 oz: Sugar-Free Raspberry Preserve; and 1 Fresh Raspberry

Method

Shake all ingredients in a martini shaker with ice; strain into a martini glass; garnish with a fresh raspberry.
