Hoag Heart Month – Newport Beach Restaurants Partner to Give the Community Healthy Choices
Re-Blogged from Hoag.org:
Lifestyle choices can help you reduce your risk of heart disease and making simple choices such as exercising regularly, not smoking and maintaining a diet with heart healthy foods can help you reduce that risk.
Since dining out is a big part of Orange County’s on-the-go, busy lifestyles, during the month of February, Hoag is partnering with Orange County restaurants to suggest options that will make your dining out menu choices more heart healthy.
During February, each restaurant will provide a special menu featuring up to three healthy menu choices including:
- Whole grains rather than processed (brown rice vs. white rice)
- Serving of fruit or vegetables (either raw or steamed vs. sautéed)
- Grilled options rather than fried (grilled chicken breast vs. fried chicken)
- Entrees without creamy sauces/condiments (or option to have them on the side)
Each restaurant will also provide customers a take-home card featuring tips on how to make health choices while dining out.
These simple choices can help you lead a healthier, happier life and reduce the risk of heart disease.
