Summer Concerts and Dining in Newport Beach

Great weather this summer means outdoor music and an array of dining options. Last week we had a chance to enjoy some great music under the stars in the intimate amphitheater at The Hyatt Regency Newport Beach for their Summer Concert Series. The series will run 15 weeks and is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary offering up a stellar line-up of musicians bringing a range of genres to the stage including jazz, smooth jazz, contemporary, acoustic and vocals. As the longest running music series in California, and recognized for bringing revered musicians to southern California every year, the series continues every Friday through September 30 with all shows at 8 p.m.
We started the evening with on of Newport’s finest new establishments, Sol Cocina. We were in a hurry so we sat in the bar and enjoyed an array of their signature a la carte street tacos with a hefty portion of their home made guacamole.
Hint: They are also recognized for their fantastic tequila cocktails, a great way to start the evening!

We then head to The Hyatt which was less then a 5 minute drive Sol. A full yet smaller sized audience watched as the sun set behind the stage and musicians Mindi Abair, Jeff Golub and David Pack came together to take us through an evening of smooth Jazz. What a treat it was!
